Old MacDonald had a farm, E I E I O,
And on his farm he had a pig, E I E I O.
With an oink oink here and an oink oink there,
Here an oink, there an oink, everywhere an oink oink.
Old MacDonald had a farm, E I E I O.
This seems unrelated to the next comment, but it isn’t. Hang with me.
I am 40 years old. Until about two weeks ago, I have apparently never washed my hands long enough. I mean, long enough to really kill any germs and bacteria, etc.
Recently, someone at our school put up this children’s “ditty” in the bathroom and said to sing it while scrubbing your hands because that’s how long you need to soap up.
Our school has been BLESSED to have only had 18 suspected cases of H1N1 – and at any given time only had about 5% of our students absent. (Reminders like the one above help us stay healthy.)
Try singing “Old Macdonald.”
It’s a REALLY long time!

Interesting - I've always heard that you're supposed to wash your hands for as long as it takes to sing the birthday song! I guess that they're probably about the same length...
Yep, we have the kids sing happy birthday too. And it is longer than I usually wash. Some days I feel like all I do is wash my hands, and the thought of doing it that long each time...I would never leave the sink! Yucky thought, I must be filthy!
